Dover Athletic v Guiseley FC – 27/01/2018

Dover Athletic v Guiseley FC. It is a wet and windy January and high flying Dover Athletic host lowely Guiseley FC in the Vanorama National League. Whats not to like?

Guiseleys defender Harry Flowers keeps Dover’s midfielder Mitch Brundle from the ball.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Now I’m not one to complain and its great to have a player celebrate right in front of you, but sometimes its too close! I literally couldn’t focus on Mitch Pinnock. I did get up and move back and Mitch Brundle then performed some kind of smack down move on my stool LOL!

Thanks guys but too close! fail on my behalf!

Rielly Cycleworks at Copper Rivet Distillery – Cycling PR in a Distillery

Rielly Cycleworks at Copper Rivet Distillery – Towards the end of 2017 I was asked to do a PR shoot with a slight difference.

Rielly Cycleworks at Copper Rivet Distillery

Simple set up for ease of movement

The job was to take promotional shots of a thorough-bred racing bicycle built by the renowned Reilly Cycleworks at The Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham, Kent. Therefore, it was easy to agree to the job as both elements are something that interest me! I basically had a free hand on the creativity as well.

It also gave me the opportunity to properly road test some Godox ad200 flash heads I had been playing around with. More on them another time.

The setup was simple. Just three heads which were easy and quick to move around when I needed to.

Its very much like shooting a car feature. You need to show the whole thing then pick out pieces of detail, In this case the detail pieces were components from sponsors so very important to include everything.

The third strobe I gelled to get the green detail in the background. Here are a few of the detail images.

Theres always one image in a shoot like this thats a standout favorite for me it was this one. I used a lesser know technique called the Brenizer Method. More on that here.

Kent Music Promo Photographer | Taking it back to music, Kay Jay

Kent Music Promo Photographer, taking it back to music, its a Natural High with the talented Kay Jay.

Back in October 2011 I was lucky enough to be part of a creative team that worked on a location video shoot for the amazing Kay Jay and her jointly written, with her then fiancée now husband, Kevin Sutherland. Its name simply ‘Natural High’  drawing on influences from her own past which are abundantly obvious when you hear the track and believe me in two days I heard it a lot!

It was shot on location at an amazing house in Norfolk call Battleford Hall, an old vicarage owned by Kate’s uncle, who the whole crew referred to as ‘Uncle Pete’ who during our time in residence looked after us in what can only be described as VIP treatment. I think I probably owe him a few bottles of wine as we quaffed long into the night on the first day!

So I spent two amazing days lurking around behind the cameras and trying to get enough time to get some decent portraits in between scenes. Here are a few of my favorites:

My absolute favorite without a doubt is this one, album cover material? only time will tell.

Also because I have had to hold this back for nearly 5 months I have also held back the following image never before seen not even by Kate!

Some of the more observant of you might notice this is a rehashed blog. The reason is that Kate has just released the single and heres the final video

In two days I met some great people: Melissa Kassinen simply great make-up and Lukas DiSparrow one of the worlds self confessed wierdos but a great director. Mr Guy Wilson a kindred spirit! Mr Kevin Sutherland and of course not forgetting the lady herself KayJay

Leyton Orient v Dover Athletic – 18/11/2017

Leyton Orient v Dover Athletic – To set the scene. Its a cold, damp Saturday in November and its my first time working at the very nice Matchroom Stadium.

Leyton Orient v Dover Athletic – My first visit to the Matchroom Stadium. The sides, rather surprisingly have never met before in competitive competition. So its a massive jumble of unknown. Dover Athletic, who currently sit at the top of the National League and Leyton Orient who after relegation from the football league last season are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone. The final score line was a draw with each side bagging a goal a piece. Here are a few of my favorites from the game. There is a larger gallery here, all images are available for licenced use, self billing applies where appropriate.

Dover Athletic v Eastleigh FC – 11/11/2017

Dover Athletic v Eastleigh FC – 11th November, 2017

As a full time sports photographer I love my job, its particularly enjoyable when its your local football team that is literally meeting the Conference battle head-on. Dover Athletic v Eastleigh FC. Its nearly half way through the season and the Whites are top of the league! and might I add look like they could stay there for sometime. This new Dover team has come together better than most would have dreamt of. Whats probably more inspiring is their goal difference. They are in good company as only a handful of League and Premiership sides have a similar boast.

Top of the table Dover Athletic hosted visitors Eastleigh in Conference Premier at Crabble Stadium in Dover, England. The home side ran out emphatic winners 2-0 to remain at the top of the National League. Here are just a few of my favorites. A full gallery can be found here.

Moments before Dover’s forward James Alabi heads the whites first goal.

I do feel that the current run of success to largely due to Chris Kinnear and his ability to build an effective team

East Kent Cyclocross Round 3 – 4th November 2017

East Kent Cyclocross Round 3 – 4th November 2017.

EKCX is promoted by VC Deal and Rob Kingsland. Its now in its third year and going from strength to strength and rightfully so. Round three this year was held at Northbourne School. Look out for a full report/article in due course. For now here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Most noteworthy was Mike Butler who dominated the Mens Elite Race

The course layout was very good consequently offering some great racing. Furthermore the support from VC Deal members is great to see

Finally from me, there is always one everywhere I go and there was no exception today!

FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying – Dover Athletic V Bromely FC

FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying – The FA Cup is a wonderful thing I do think that. I just like the immediateness of the whole thing, away from any league pressures. Simply you win, you continue. Dovers 2017 Emirites FA Cup campaign got underway on 14th October at home to Bromely FC. The last time they met each other in the league Bromely ran out winners. So the home side were out to prove a point. The game ran out a goalless draw and moves to a replay. But the game wasn’t without it its action. Here are a few of my favorites, theres a bigger gallery here.

FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying

OCTOBER 14: Dover’s defender Femi Ilesanmi takes a shot on goal and Bromely’s Roger Johnson tries to get in the way!

A few more

Finally, I particularly like this frame.

OCTOBER 14: As Dover’s defender Josh Passley makes a run down the wing. Bromely’s manager Neil Smith thinks its a good idea to start shouting at Bromely’s Frankie Raymond which distracts him!

Dover Athletic V Chester FC – 16th September 2017

Dover Athletic V Chester FC – 16th September 2017. So at the end of an unexpected long day for me Dover were playing at home against struggling manager-less Chester FC. It is fair to say that this years home record for Dover has left a lot of room for improvement. Something that the Whites most definitely put paid to running out emphatic 4 goals to nothing and climbing up to second in the league!

Here, are a couple of my favorites from the game.  Loads more can be found here. As usual all usage has to be paid for and self billing applies.

Dover Athletic V Boreham Wood 12th September 2017

Dover Athletic V Boreham Wood. So who would have thought it the Whites are top of the table! I know its early days but surely the last time this must have happened someone thought that hover craft were the new way to get to France! It was a text book Autumn Tuesday evening, very windy and rain! Unfortunately not the result the home side were looking for.

Here are a few of my favorites from the game. A full gallery can be found here. As usual all usage has to be paid for and self billing applies.

Dover Athletic V Wrexham FC – 12th August 2017

Dover Athletic V Wrexham FC and whites get back to winning ways and climb up the table and sit in joint forth place. Early days yet but an encouraging team performance. Here are a few of my favorites from the game. A full gallery can be found here. As usual all usage has to be paid for and self billing applies. Sometimes you sit in just the right spot, sometimes you sit in too much of the right spot! I just about managed to move the camera in time!
